By Chelsea Babin

If you’re ready to set yourself up for success in 2017 you’ve come to the right place! Whether you’re ready to treat yourself or you’re making a wish list, consider these 8 life-improving items that will boost your productivity, happiness, and career.

1. Sign Up for a Service: If you didn’t have to clean your own home, how much extra time would you get back each week? If you had a virtual assistant to deal with some minutia in your day would you be able to focus on more important, big picture goals? One of the best gifts you can receive is more time and, if you sign up for a time saving service like a meal or grocery delivery plan, a cleaning service, a dog walker, or a virtual assistant you’ll be able to either use your extra time a little more wisely and or you’ll simply have more time to rest and relax which will improve your work-life balance!

2. Books and E-Books: Books are one of the oldest tools for self-improvement and learning and they’re still one of your best options. Whether you’re looking to learn a new skill, get a little inspiration from some nonfiction, or simply have more revitalizing free time with some great fiction you love, add books to your wish list. And, if you prefer e-books or audiobooks, try subscribing to a service like Audible or Scribd.

3. Fitness Tracker: If you want to feel healthy, fit, and energized a fitness tracker is a great way to go! They will remind you to take more active breaks, use the stairs instead of the elevator, and stay more active in general. This extra boost of activity will energize you and help you work more productively.

4. Desk Accessories: Is your desk often a mess? Does it feel impersonal and not quite like your own? Find a few fun desk accessories to make your desk feel more like a positive, happy work home. Whether that means buying organizational items to help keep track of your mess, a picture frame to hold some of your favorite photos, or a few trinkets that remind you of your favorite band or TV show, desk accessories can really improve your mood at work and your productivity!

5. Properly Fitted Work or Interview Attire: A lot of offices are making their dress codes more relaxed but never underestimate the power of properly fitted clothing for an interview or networking event! One of the best things you can add to your wish list is some nicer clothing items and a trip to the tailor to make sure they fit you perfectly.

6. Notebooks or Planners: If you’re the kind of person who prefers to write things down rather than have a ton of notes on your phone, a few nice new notebooks or a planner are great items to put on your wish list. For brainstorming, making to-do lists, keeping track of your progress on work projects and more there’s very few things that can beat good, old-fashioned paper and pen.

7. Conferences or Courses: If you’re ready to be more successful in the new year that might involve improving your skills. Why not put a course or a conference on your self-improvement wish list for next year?

8. A Better Alarm, New Sheets, and New Pillows: A good night’s sleep is the foundation for a productive day but it’s also the foundation for a more successful year. Why not invest in a better alarm clock that wakes you up more effectively without pressing the snooze button? Or nicer sheets and pillows so you’re more inclined to go to bed early? Having a great night’s sleep is invaluable and these items may help improve your rest.

As 2016 comes to a close, a lot of people are focused on improving their productivity, happiness, and more in the next year. If you’re looking to have a successful year in 2017 put these 8 items on your wish list!
