Information Technology Employment Continued to Grow in Early Fall
Those in the Information Technology sector got some great news this past month. Since September 2012 Information Technology has continued to add jobs and workers at a typical overall yearly rate of 5.88%. So far a total of 250,000 workers have been added to the workforce. It is a great time to be in the Information Technology field.
Actually the rate of job growth surprised most experts across the board this early fall. The US economy added 204,000 jobs in total in the month of October. This is well above economists’ expectations. Economists were expecting weak job growth due to uncertainties created by the budget battles and government shut down in early October. “The economy seems to be heating up faster than people think. It’s incredibly impressive,” said J.J. Kinahan, chief strategist for TDAmeritrade. As a result of the shutdown 800,000 federal employees were furloughed, counting them among the unemployed and potentially negatively impacting job growth and the economy. However, neither thing happened.
Information Technology Employment grew for the 25th consecutive month at a rate of 0.11 percent sequentially last month to 4,513,300, according to Tech Serve Alliance, the national trade association of the IT& Engineering Staffing and Solutions industry.
“…Demand for Information Technology professionals remains strong,” remarked Mark Roberts, CEO of TechServe Alliance, in a news release.
All in all things seem to be looking up for the economy in general, and still going well for Information Technology professionals in particular despite often-times grim economic forecasts. Information Technology is really the place to be!
